17 November - National Day Without Debts

17-11-2010

The message of the Day Without Debts is very positive – it is an inspiration to stop being passive and to make a move in a very positive direction.  The purpose of the campaign is to make all Poles aware of the debt problem and of the consequences of debt both for every one of us and for the national economy.

The Day Without Debts is a part of the Our Debts educational campaign whose content sponsors include national media as well as the most important institutions involved in educating the public about personal finance. This year, the following institutions have declared their interest in the event: Business Centre Club, Conference of Financial Companies in Poland and KRUK SA. Media sponsors are: Bankier.pl, eCommerce.edu.pl and Inwestycje.pl.

Joining the campaign, the ERIF Register of Debtors prepared a promotional offer of services available at infoKonsument.pl. When making the first steps to resolve a debt problem it is important for a debtor to know the current amount owed. To get this knowledge a debtor may run a query in the ERIF Register of Debtors where their creditor(s) may have reported the debtor together with all the debt details.

From the 17th of November (National Day Without Debts) until the end of the year, each individual will be able to check information about themselves reported to infoKonsument.pl, totally free of charge (even if such person has already used the statutory right to free checking once every six months).

Many people fall into debts because other people owe them money. Using the infoKonsument.pl service, from the 17th of November to the 31st of December 2010 individuals will have an opportunity to report their debtors free of charge to the ERIF Register of Debtors.
