The service which was launched at the end of January this year is becoming more and more popular.
infoKonsument.pl is a virtual door to the ERIF Debtor Register - one of Polish credit information databases. It stores up-to-date and reliable information about consumers and businesses. These data may be both negative (information about a debt) and positive (about timely payment of liabilities). The service is managed by the ERIF Credit Information Bureau.
To use infoKonsument.pl and to check online information about a business entity in the ERIF Debtor Register one has to go to the website and open an account. To activate the account one will need a scan of a valid identity document (e.g. personal ID card). After the activation has been completed, the user can check among others whether the user's data are registered and whether there were any inquiries about the user submitted to the ERIF Debtor Register. The information obtained via the infoKonsument.pl service will also tell the user whether a stolen or forged document in his/her name was used.
Counterparty monitoring is an additional functionality offered. It may be especially useful for consumers who are in long-term business relationships with companies. It enables ongoing monitoring of changes in business information about a company with a specified NIP number. The system will notify the user via an e-mail address provided during registration about each change in business information about the monitored company, such as e.g. about adding, updating or deleting of information on such entity.
Persons checking their own data via infoKonsument.pl protect themselves against unpleasant and embarrassing situations like rejecting their loan application or refusal to sell a subscriber service. It may be expected that banks and other service providers will check the consumer’s credit report in the ERIF database.
Opening and mainatining an account is free. Under the special promotion that runs until 19 March, new users of the service will be offered an unlimited possibility of checking possible entries of their own data. They will also be able to check five companies and to start five business information monitoring processes concerning their selected companies.
So far, on average, ERIF Debtor Register users have submitted 1.18 consumer enquiries about their own data. The age of infoKonsument.pl users is very diversified and is in the range from 19 to 84, with the average of 35 years. The largest number of ”Infoconsumers” are 27 years old.
